Dangote Group Plans to Expand the Production of Polyolefins in Africa

Manish Singhvi, general manager of the African diversified conglomerate Dangote Group, responsible for strategic planning, recently said the company is planning to build a $ 4 billion petrochemical complex project in the vicinity of the Lekki Lagos, Nigeria. This includes a mix raw materials of 1.1 million tons/year of ethylene and 350,000 tons/year of propylene cracker. All the propylene produced 1.7 million tons/year will be used in polypropylene production plant.

It is reported that the company also considering building a metathesis unit will increase propylene production capacity of another 600,000 tons/year. Meanwhile, the refinery project will produce 750,000 tons of propylene/year. Thus, propylene total capacity is up to 1.7 million tons of propylene/year. Dangote also plans to build two downstream polyethylene (PE) production plant, and each PE production capacity is about 550,000 tons/year, which is a high-density polyethylene production, and another is a set of linear low density polyethylene.

Dangote has determined that all the devices are made of Ineos polyolefins technology. The petrochemical plants produced about 20% will be used for polyolefin local market and 80 percent for export.

The Fire Source is Extruded Polystyrene Foam

Exterior insulation material could lead to fire, and the fire source is the external factors or direct factors. And polystyrene foam and extruded polystyrene foam is the internal factors of combustible.

However, the same process to use polystyrene disposable lunch boxes, improper use can cause problems as polystyrene will release toxic substances under high temperature or combustion. Disposable lunch boxes or soaked in oil heated will be easy to release styrene and plasticizers and other substances on human health. So disposable lunch boxes can not be used for heating or holding to high temperature food.
